Keep vigil for the ghost of a father
roaming castle walls,
moaning for justice.
Vow revenge then relent
for he bids me instead
keep vigil for the Ghost of the Father’s
murdered Son,
alive in Spirit and body,
prompting prayer this third watch
with every piece of armor—
helmet, breastplate, belt, shield, sword, shoes.
Attack comes in slumber;
I will not falter, I will yet
stand guard this stretch
before the prize of sunrise.
Listen, eyes! Do not despise
the moonlight.
I inhabit God, my tower,
as surely as he makes my praise-habit
His habitat.
Ho!—there He is!—
the Ghost, without and within.
My defender sends respite.
