do something unremarkable

Don’t worry about washing someone else’s feet if that has become something “special” to you; just content yourself with doing something unremarkable for Jesus and pay no mind as to whether or not others notice you. In fact, if they do notice you, find something else unremarkable to do so they’ll stop noticing you. This is the way of Christ, The Servant.

The Spirit of Jesus is not found in the spotlight on Broadway with the "somebodies" of this world; he is found in the shadows of the alleyway--in the "unimportant" places with the "unimportant" people.
