loaves and fishes and boots

A week and a half ago, I posted an article soliciting help for a special fundraiser. Dianna McCartan, Christian Associates project leader for Communitas Twin Cities, sent out a request to raise funds in order to purchase some boots for some incredibly needy people in St. Paul. I have good news to report. Dianna writes:

As some of you may know, Communitas started a boot drive two weeks ago. This began because a local ministry we served, Jesus Delivers, asked us to help them raise funds to purchase winter boots that they give away to friends living on the streets. Being the type of community that we are, (crazy but willing) we of course said 'yes'! We had no idea how we would raise the money, we just knew we wanted to help.

They asked us to raise $1000.

As of today, we've raised over $2700!

The heart of Communitas is to simply seek God and serve others. There is so much fun in doing that! Not too long after we started the Communitas project (a little over a year ago), I began to tag our missional gatherings as 'loaves and fishes' because every time our little tribe of people got together with hearts to seek God and serve others, the abundance brought forth from our meager offering of our time, our gifts, our hearts always felt miraculous. Today is no exception.

For all that helped get the word out, contributed funds, prayed for us, THANK YOU.

To the One who is able to do immeasurably more than all we can ask or imagine, we give you all the praise.

Praise God for multiplying a few loaves and a few fish in order to feed many.
