just be you

God made you you. That is good enough. You do not need to worry when you are not like someone else. You do not need to accomplish what someone else accomplishes in this world, only what he would accomplish through you. Whatever he has given you to do, just do it with all your heart, with all the courage and joy of a champion.

You do not need to fret or wish you were more like another person, someone more talented or witty or famous.

Some of us wish we had it more “together”, like so-and-so with the nice job, that house in that neighborhood or that car with those special gadgets. The truth is: we are all broken in our own way, even those who seem the most “together”. Yes, not one of us has it all “together.” Only Christ holds all things together and he is big enough to hold you.

Besides, “together” is impossible on your own anyway. Who could ever be “together” alone? No one. “Together” is only possible with another. And the Other is Jesus, always Jesus.

Hear his words to you now: “Remain here with me and just be you. That is good enough.”

How wonderful! This is exactly what I needed to hear after ending last week and going into this one. No matter what anyone says about me, I can just be me. God created me for His purpose. Thanks!
