Blessed Jesus

This prayer is based on the Beatitudes (blessings). I invite you to pray with me.

…………..

Lord Jesus,
blessed are you who became poor in spirit,
who wept and mourned for the hardness of heart
that seized the city of peace,
and paralyzes us yet today.
We bless you for your meekness,
you who humbled yourself in spite of our pride.
We bless you because you showed us
how to hunger and thirst for righteousness
and filled us with yours, though we didn’t deserve it.
We bless you because you showed us mercy
even when we were merciless to you and each other.
We bless you because you are pure of heart.
Peacemaker, we persecuted you,
but you endured and forgave us. We bless you.

Make us more like you, Lord Jesus.
Help us lay down our weapons
and make peace with one another.
Forgive our perversions, and make us pure.
Train us in the way of humility,
and break our hearts for what breaks yours.
When we’re quick to judge,
show us your way of mercy.
Make us like children
for our own self-importance keeps eating away at us.
Fill our inner void only with you; we hunger for you,
our bread from heaven and living water.

In Your Name we pray,
Amen.
