mercy and might

I praise you, Lord,
for you are the light
from which all other lights come.
Your power, greater than the sun,
endures forever.
Your acts of mercy
outnumber the stars.

I have tried in vain
to claim glory
which can only be yours.
My strength is but weakness before you;
my wisdom, foolishness.

I lay down my pride,
my ambition,
and my lust for renown.

You alone are God.
Before you, I am nothing
for nothing exists now
that was ever before you;
you are the Ancient of Days.
Without you,
I have no breath.
Ride the wind,
mighty warrior.
Slay my heart,
conquer my domain.
I surrender.
