Once there was a king
that stooped to serve;
you don’t need to wonder
where your hope came from
The king exchanged lavish robes
and singing angels
for naked skin
and murderous men;
you don’t need to wonder
where your courage came from
He forgave the cheating heart
and unchaste breast;
you don’t need to wonder
where your healed joy came from
Your joy became your sorrow,
your hope knew futility
and
your courage descended to hell;
you don’t need to wonder
anymore
why you seem to find
the capacity to dream
in the most unlikely places
at the most unlikely times.
Yours is the most unlikely story;
laugh
have hope
take courage
rejoice always
wonder
wonder
